Background
US-based AI car company Tensor Auto has launched the world’s first fully self-driving personal car, the Tensor Robocar, at GITEX Global 2025 in Dubai. The Level-4 vehicle can drive, park, and charge itself without human help, removing the need for a driving licence or special insurance.
Omar Abou-Ezzeddine, Tensor’s Regional Managing Director for MEA, said the Robocar is a major step for smart and futuristic transport. Users can ask the car to drop children off at school, go to work, or run errands while the car handles all driving tasks safely.
The Robocar is not a modified automobile but is fully autonomous. It has five Lidar sensors and more than 100 cameras and sensors to detect objects, distance, and speed, and is capable of moving safely in the streets, car parks, and the traffic of city.
It also possesses high computing, with 8,000 units, four times more than normal smart cars, so it can make fast decisions in real time. The AI learns users’ routines, recognising homes, workplaces, schools, and favourite locations, while keeping all data fully encrypted.
Voice control is built in, so users can set destinations and manage functions without touching controls.
Tensor plans to open pre-orders in 2026, with deliveries in the UAE later that year. The company will then expand to the US and Europe. Tensor aims to offer a safe, smart, and fully self-driving car that fits everyday life and changes how people travel.
