Background

The General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments, and Zakat, together with the Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications Office, launched a national training program to train more than 5,000 employees in artificial intelligence (AI). This program supports the UAE Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2031 and helps the country lead in digital transformation and AI-driven governance.

The initiative aims to help employees use AI in their daily work, especially in Islamic affairs, research, and community services. It also works to make government services better and faster through modern digital tools.

Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, said the UAE is continuing to train and prepare its workforce for the age of AI. He noted that the fast pace of technological progress requires strong preparation and proactive learning to ensure effective use of AI in public service.

The training programme is being developed with the support of major global technology companies, including Google, Microsoft, Oracle, Cisco, AI71, Meta, SAP, SAS, and e&. Employees will learn about AI fundamentals, the UAE’s AI vision, and real-world applications in decision-making and innovation.

Dr. Omar Habtour Al Darei, Chairman of the Authority, said the initiative will create a sustainable learning system that equips employees and religious leaders with AI knowledge to enhance community communication and religious discourse.

Supported by the UAE Council for Fatwa and the Mohammed bin Zayed University for Humanities, the programme reflects the UAE’s commitment to using technology for progress and preparing government institutions for the future.
