Background

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been inked between SABIC and Ceer, the first electric vehicle (EV) brand in Saudi Arabia, where the two parties intend to assess the application of advanced materials in the design, development, and production of EVs. This MoU will also focus on future business opportunities and the scope of possible collaboration.

Under this agreement, the use of SABIC’s advanced materials in different applications in vehicles is evaluated. Both organizations will work together to develop a technology that meets the needs of EVs.

In order to support the product development process, both partners will collaborate by exchanging knowledge on sustainability and technology. Strategic sourcing will be assessed as an opportunity for both of them. The agreement includes plans to identify additional areas for future cooperation.

SABIC said the partnership combines its expertise in advanced materials with Ceer’s ambition to build world-class electric vehicles in Saudi Arabia. The company believes the collaboration will support innovation, increase local manufacturing and strengthen the country’s industrial capabilities.

Ceer said the partnership will help it develop safer and more efficient next-generation electric vehicles by using advanced materials and technical expertise. The company added that working with global technology partners will strengthen its local supply chain and support the growth of Saudi Arabia’s electric mobility sector.

The collaboration supports Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Industrial Strategy by encouraging local manufacturing, developing national talent and positioning Saudi Arabia as a regional centre for advanced industries and sustainable mobility technologies.
