Background
Chinese environmental services group Jereh New Energy Regeneration and Recycling Technology Company (Jereh NER) has signed an oil-based drilling cuttings treatment contract with Kuwait Oil Company (KOC). The contract is valued at over RMB100 million ($24.6 million) and runs for five years.
The tender attracted competition from more than a dozen leading international oilfield service and environmental companies. KOC chose Jereh NER because of the high level of technical performance and how resources are used in an integrated way, with the cross-border implementation. The firm was the first service provider to officially enter into a contract within this bidding process.
Jereh NER’s recycling equipment meets world-class standards, with each unit capable of processing 12 tonnes per hour to support continuous large-scale operations. The equipment uses recycled oil self-heating and fully enclosed circulation technologies, cutting overall energy consumption by more than 18% compared with mainstream international equipment.
After treatment, the oil content in solid residues is reduced to below 0.3%, well within the regional environmental limit of 1% set across the Middle East.
A company spokesman said the project demonstrated Jereh NER’s broader environmental service capabilities, which span oil and gas environmental protection, oilfield wastewater treatment, lithium-ion battery recycling, wind turbine blade recycling, photovoltaic module recycling, solid waste management, and soil remediation. The company draws on more than two decades of experience across these sectors.
Jereh NER operates across more than 60 countries and regions and has delivered multiple large-scale projects globally, several exceeding RMB100 million in contract value. The company said it aims to use the Kuwait project as a platform to expand further across the Middle East.
