Background-

CMA CGM Group has agreed to acquire Lebanon-based Fattal Group to grow its logistics and distribution business in the Middle East and North Africa.

The deal shows that the company is taking a major step to expand beyond shipping into full supply chain services.

The company expects to close the transaction with Fattal shareholders in the third quarter of 2026, after getting regulatory approvals. Financial details of the acquisition are not yet disclosed.

Fattal Group operates a wide distribution network across MENA markets for international and local premium brands. The company, founded in 1897 and headquartered in Beirut, works across sectors including fast-moving consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, consumer electronics and beauty products.

CMA CGM said the acquisition will strengthen its downstream logistics capabilities by connecting distribution services more closely with end markets. The company aims to improve efficiency and expand its presence in consumer-focused supply chains across the region.

The group will continue to operate Fattal’s business with its existing management and workforce. CMA CGM said it will rely on local expertise to ensure continuity of operations and support future growth.

The company also reaffirmed its long-term commitment to Lebanon and the wider region, where it already operates a large shipping fleet, port terminals and logistics investments.

Fattal Group leadership welcomed the agreement, saying the partnership will expand the company’s reach while maintaining its current operations, and market relationships.

Once completed, the acquisition is expected to strengthen distribution networks, improve service delivery and create new growth opportunities across the MENA logistics sector.
