Background:

Wego, the leading travel app and the largest online travel marketplace in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), has partnered with the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) to promote South Korea as a travel destination for people from the region. The partnership aims to raise interest in Korea by highlighting its landscapes, culture, and modern way of life through a focused digital campaign.

The initiative encourages MENA travelers to explore Korea beyond its most popular tourist spots. From the fast-paced streets of Seoul to the calm beaches of Jeju Island, and from the historic temples of Gyeongju to the scenic mountains of Gangwon-do, the campaign highlights Korea as a destination that blends tradition with innovation. Travelers will get to explore a wide range of experiences, including seasonal festivals, UNESCO World Heritage sites, wellness escapes, and local food traditions.

Mamoun Hmidan, Chief Business Officer at Wego, said the partnership shows the growing interest of MENA travelers in culturally rich and easy-to-visit destinations. He added that Korea’s mix of tradition and modern life makes it especially appealing, and that Wego’s platform helps travelers move smoothly from travel ideas to confirmed bookings.

Under the partnership, Wego will launch a campaign in both Arabic and English. The campaign will include destination highlights, interactive content, influencer trips, and practical travel tools. Its aim is to make trip planning easier while giving travelers a clear view of Korea’s lifestyle, including its food, beauty trends, entertainment, design, and wellness experiences.

Jiman Jung, Regional Director at the Korea Tourism Organization, welcomed the partnership, saying it would make Korea more accessible to travelers from the Middle East and North Africa. He said Korea’s four-season charm, strong infrastructure, and the growing popularity of Korean culture are key reasons travelers keep coming back.

With more interest in East Asian travel across the GCC and wider MENA region, the partnership presents Korea as an appealing destination for both first-time and returning visitors. By combining destination expertise with easy-to-use travel technology, Wego and the Korea Tourism Organization hope to inspire more MENA travelers to visit Korea.
