Saudi Air Navigation Services signed an agreement with US-based MITRE to strengthen cooperation in research, innovation, and advanced technology. They finalized the deal at the Dubai Airshow 2025, showing Saudi Arabia’s effort to modernize its air navigation system.
Saleh Al-Motirey, the Chief Technology Officer at SANS, and Kerry Buckley, the vice president of the Center for Transportation Systems Integration at MITRE, signed the MoU. The partnership aims to improve Saudi Arabia’s air navigation system by improving operational processes and deploying new decision-support technologies.
Under the agreement, both organizations will work together on research projects in AI, data analytics, and advanced air traffic management tools. These efforts aim to improve real-time decision-making, make air traffic more efficient, and introduce new solutions that raise overall performance.
The collaboration also includes efforts to improve data infrastructure and cybersecurity by adopting secure and modern digital systems. In addition, both sides plan to launch sustainability projects aimed at reducing fuel usage and cutting carbon emissions, in line with global aviation goals and Saudi Arabia’s digital transformation strategy.
