Background
AD Ports Group has stated that a UN/LOCODE has been issued to the Al Faya Dry Port. This implies that the Al Faya Dry Port is recognized globally due to the UN/LOCODE assigned to it.
The code, AEALF, was issued by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). The designation will help improve the port’s integration with international shipping, logistics and customs systems, making cargo movement more efficient.
Al Faya Dry Port, located between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, digitally linked with Khalifa Port, offers services for customs-controlled goods, container handling and logistics operations. The facility supports the movement of cargo across the UAE and helps improve connections between ports, inland logistics centres and trade routes.
The UN/LOCODE system is widely used by the global shipping and logistics industry to identify locations, simplify customs procedures and improve supply chain efficiency. With the new designation, Al Faya Dry Port becomes an internationally recognised inland logistics hub.
AD Ports Group said the recognition will allow customs declarations to be processed through a single approved facility under Abu Dhabi Customs. It will also help speed up cargo movement between connected logistics centres without requiring additional customs paperwork within Abu Dhabi.
The designation further supports bonded cargo transportation and allows the issuance of Through Bills of Lading, enabling Al Faya Dry Port to function as both an export starting point and an import destination.
According to AD Ports Group, the achievement strengthens supply chain efficiency, enhances trade connectivity and supports the UAE’s position as a leading global trade and logistics hub.
