Background-
Kuwait held a joint meeting between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development (SCPD) to review progress on the Women and Business Index published by the World Bank Group.
The meeting was organised to assess recent developments and discuss ways to improve women’s participation in business activities. Officials said the discussions focused on strengthening the business environment and supporting women’s economic empowerment in line with national development goals and international standards.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was represented by its Human Rights Department, while the SCPD was represented through its Women and Business Committee along with experts. The session was chaired by Acting Secretary-General of SCPD Ahmed Al-Janahi and was held through a video conference.
Participants reviewed steps needed to improve legislation and policies that support women in the business sector. They also exchanged ideas with experts from the World Bank Group on how to strengthen frameworks that encourage women’s participation in economic activities.
